Miwok in Indian means "Park from Hell"
Today Dante wanted to do a third very challenging workout with me, so he moved the location over to Miwok Park in Elk Grove. We walked over there from house and he was nice enough to let me carry the 35lb Kettle bell to and from the park. He helped part of the way, but it was heavy for him too - seriously?!? Surprisingly Miwok has several obstacles that you can use that fit in with the Mud...

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses
This has been a big topic lately in different conversations with people. I am no different than the average person and I used to make excuses as to why I didn’t want to workout or eat healthy. I was just being lazy. From the start of my journey I vowed not to give excuses, especially to Dante. I was going in giving nothing but 100%. This is not just a personal investment, but a financial...

Mud Run Day of Tips
I’ve been reading several different blogs that offer tips on what you need day of race. I’ve taken the time to compile a list for those who are running in the April 21st Survivor Mud Run in Lathrop. Don’t wear goggles or sunglasses. Do not wear any jewelry. Wear Sunscreen. Take photos before and after the race. Duct tape your laces to your shoes. Stay hydrated before the...

30 Day Weigh-In…
I can’t believe its only been 30 days. I feel like I have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. Sadly, I did not win Dante’s weight loss bet, which was to lose 38lbs in 30 days to win $200. I came in at 36lbs, missed it by 2lbs, but I am thrilled with the results either way! I did win the body fat loss bet, -4% since my 21 day weigh-in. I lost a total of 5%. So my...

How I was just 30 Days Ago...
My 1 month anniversary of starting my journey is just around the corner and I had a realization the other day about the person I was just 30 days ago. The best way to describe me when it comes to food was I was just flat out LAZY. I didn’t care what foods I was eating, where they came from and what it was doing to me physically. Plus I always had an excuse and tried to appease people who...

"Murph" - More like MEH
Todays workout was more of an endurance challenge that was named after Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005. This was his favorite workout. The workout consists of the following: 1 mile Run 100 Pull Ups 200 Push Ups 300 Squats 1 mile Run All to be completed within an hour. I completed it in 1 hour 15 minutes. It was grueling but I don’t think my...

Weekend Wrap Up!
I had a very eventful weekend. Dante hosted an open session workout on Saturday which lasted 2.5 hours! Yes you read that right 2.5 hours! When I first learned about the length I thought he was crazy. He said we would be doing some martial arts - Jeet Kun Doe, relays, a 25,000 lb lift challenge, and finishing the day with 1 mile run. It’s been just over 3 weeks now that I’ve...

Weigh-In Week 3
Technically this would be my week 4, but I was stuck in bed for a little over a week with a bad chest cold. Even though I wasn’t working out I still stuck to the food plan. Last Friday I attempted to work out with Dante and I found that I still wasn’t 100% yet. I rested over the weekend and we tried again Monday morning and my results and endurance were much better. Workouts are...

Triple Threat is Back!
This morning I went to a friends gym to work out with her and my mom. I did 45 minutes of cardio with no coughing or congestion. It felt great because the conjestion was holding me back during my last 2 attempts at working out with Dante. Anything that increased my heart rate caused me to start coughing or have a hard time catching my breathe. Being sick really set me back to really taking this...

Insert Rocky Theme Here!
Now that I have officially signed up and paid for 2 races the April Mud Run and the Labor Day Weekend Disneyland Half Marathon. I need to start training so I talked to my mom who is in her 60’s and has been running regularly for the last year (very proud of her!). Well she is going to be my new morning running partner on my off days from Dante once the rain stops. About 5 years ago I ran...

Sick of being sick....
So I am writing to you from my island (my bed) that I have been stuck on since Saturday evening. I caught a really bad chest cold and I have been laid up in bed coughing up a lung. I have not worked out since Saturday and I am feeling really guilty about it, but I just dont have the energy to do much. Im already sick of being sick! I am staying on my food plan even though I cannot taste...

Weekend Wrap Up
On Saturday my best friends came up and we spent the day together. I technically would have had 2 meals outside my home that day, but I ate my lunch at home and then when we all went out to lunch to Mikunis I just had a cucumber salad and a protein shake. Surprisingly it does not bother me at all watching others eat whatever they want, while I made healthier choices. Just goes to show you how...

Welcome My Temporary Trainer….My Mom
Today Dante had to cancel his sessions due to illness, but he still emailed me my leg workout for the day. My mom came over to encourage me and count out my reps, which was a huge in me finishing the workout. Thank you mom for coming over today, I really appreciate it! Without the support that I receive from my friends and family this journey would be even more challenging. I think in any life...

20lb Weight Gain
Started my day off with a 20lb weight gain….via a weight vest. Dante made me wear it during the entire chest and shoulder workout, boxing and sprints. The best part was when he took it off, I felt so much lighter and I had an easier time breathing. If only fat came off so easily! I never realized until today how much weight I was really carrying around. It was a real eye opener for me. I dread...

Weekend Wrap Up
This weekend I had a few accomplishments that proved all the hard work I have been doing over the past 3 weeks is paying off. On Saturday, I ran for a full 10 minutes without stopping, which is a huge accomplishment for only starting to work on distance running in the last week. Then on Sunday I really pushed myself and I successfully ran for 20 minutes without stopping. I was very happy with that...

Someone Kill Me Now!
The title of this blog says it all. Dante wanted to change location (Barthalomew Park) for our session today and do a full body and very high intensity workout, which he called a Breakthrough Workout. He invited 2 of his other clients and I invited my cheerleading squad of my parents and Aleasha. I also had a last minute surprise from one of my clients who came all the way down from Sacramento...
